A Summer of Spiritual Strength: Growing in Christ (2 Peter 1)

This message continues the “A Summer of Spiritual Strength” series, defining spiritual growth not as merely attending church or doing religious activities, but as being conformed to Christ. Building on Ephesians 2, it emphasizes salvation by grace through faith and the call to good works, then shows that Jesus Christ alone is the foundation for growth (1 Corinthians 3) and that fruitfulness comes only by abiding in Him (John 15:5). From 2 Peter 1:3–9, it teaches that God’s divine power provides what is needed for life and godliness, and that believers must remember God’s promises and diligently add to faith: virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience/endurance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity. These qualities lead to spiritual fruit; lacking them brings spiritual blindness and forgetfulness of being cleansed from sin, and the message closes by encouraging diligent seeking of God (Hebrews 11).
