Romans 12: The Sacrifice of Service (Humility, Harmony, and Spiritual Gifts)
This message continues a Romans series on knowing God, moving from Romans 1–11’s “gospel to us” to Romans 12’s “gospel through us,” where believers live transformed lives by renewing their minds rather than conforming to the world. Reviewing Romans 12:1–2, the sermon emphasizes presenting ourselves as living sacrifices as the logical response to God’s mercy. In Romans 12:3–5, Paul teaches that service begins with humility—spiritual gifts are grace-given and never grounds for pride—paired with sober, faith-shaped thinking. The church is one unified body with many distinct members and roles, so service must be done in harmony for God’s glory. Using Mark 10:45 and the parable of the talents, the preacher calls believers to identify and steward their gifts for sacrificial service, and invites hearers to first trust Christ for salvation.
